Overnight curls can be an excellent solution for those days when you want to wake up and be good to go. You can get curly hair overnight by using a few simple steps:

1. Wash and condition with volumizing shampoos and conditioners.

2. Sleep in a wet braid, bun or try out dressing gown curls and other heatless methods.

3. Wake up, take down your hair and voila! You should definitely have something curly going on. Carefully brush out the curls using the Ultimate Styler if you want looser curls but if you want to keep the bounce, gently shake out your curls and spritz with hairspray so they hold.

4. If you can avoid heat, then do. Excessive heat can damage your hair and make it frizzy. Use a flat iron to smooth out frizzies instead.

How do I get waves in my hair overnight without heat?

If you want to avoid using too much heat on your hair while still learning how to get natural waves, braiding it overnight is the ideal method to minimize damage without sacrificing style. With a few simple techniques, no heat required, you can increase the body and texture of your hair. Keep reading to learn how to get wavy hair overnight...

Begin by washing your hair with clean, fresh water. You'll want to use a volumising shampoo and conditioner since bouncy waves are the objective. This cleanses the hair gently while adding natural-looking volume and bounce. Follow up with a deep conditioner to help re-hydrate and repair any existing damage.

Once you have conditioned your hair, it's time to style. If you’ve already got a wave to your hair, this method will help bring out your natural pattern. Part your hair down the middle and comb through any tangles with a wide-tooth comb. Apply a curl enhancer or mousse to your hair, scrunching it in as you go. Section off your hair into one-inch pieces and twist each piece around your fingers, holding for a few seconds before releasing. Repeat until all of your hair is styled.

Now it's time to let your waves set. You can either sleep in them overnight or diffuse them with a hairdryer. A spritz of hairspray never goes amiss - hairspray is essential to keeping your waves in place all day long.

Looking for a tighter curl? Spiral curls are tiny and they may be achieved by sleeping in little overnight hair rollers. This method is a heatless one and it will get you the most volume with the least damage. In the morning, undo your rollers and finger comb your waves into place. You can also use a light hairspray to set the curls if needed.

How to get loose curls overnight

Loose, flowing hair is rather versatile. It's entirely up to you whether you want your locks to be wavy or curly. Try just one braid for a laid-back vibe; you'll discover that this is enough to give your mane more movement in the morning.

If you love that laid back, beachy style, we've rounded up everything else you need to know about how to get beach waves. It can be challenging to amp up the volume if you've got long hair, so you might want to go for two or three braids to make the waves a little more pronounced (essentially, the more braids you have, the tighter the waves will be!). You could even do four or more braids if you prefer a crimped look.

After sleeping in a braid or bun, the last thing you want to happen is for your curls and waves to drop out! So, how do you keep your hair curly? By using a light hairspray to set the waves. This will help to keep them in place all day or night long.
